The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, has joined other well-meaning Nigerians to congratulate Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State on his 65th birthday.
Bishop Ezeokafor, who gave his congratulatory message at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka, described governor Obiano as a fortunate man who had done well for himself as an individual and as the governor with genuine concern for the wellbeing of the state.
He thanked God for the good works He is using the governor to do in the state, even as he urged him to beam his searchlight on erosion devastated areas as well as some dilapidated roads in the State.
The Catholic Bishop observed that Obiano administration has done well, especially in the areas of security, youths and women empowerment, urging him not to relent on giving his best to the state.
“He should concentrate on offering good governance and delivering of dividends of democracy to Ndi Anambra. We’ll continue to pray for him,’ he stated.
Bishop Ezeokafor further urged Nigerians to be patriotic and accord respect to legitimately constituted authorities.
He said that any democratic government deserves the support of the citizens for meaningful economic progress, adding that every legitimate government deserves the respect of the people, therefore, they must support government, while engaging in constructive criticism.
The Bishop advised the citizens to continue to pay their taxes as part of their civic responsibilities to enable government carry out its own responsibilities.
While tasking civil servants to always justify their monthly salaries by rendering corresponding services, Bishop Ezeokafor cautioned the citizenry to always treat public property as their own by protecting them, discarding the notion that government business is nobody’s business.
