Ibrahim Masari, the placeholder as running mate to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, has resigned his position.
The resignation was contained in a letter signed by Masari and presented to his party on Sunday.
He said that following the outcome of a crucial discussion he just had with the flagbearer of the party, the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said that after much reflection and wider consultations, he is stepping down.
He said that he his decision will enable Asiwaju to have more latitude to give more accommodation and inclusion that will position their party to win the coming elections, with the support of the people of Nigeria.
He also said that will still serve the party and the country in several other capacities.
He confirmed that he has submitted his withdrawal letter and affidavit to that effect as the vice-presidential candidate to Asiwaju Bola TInubu in the coming elections.
