The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has withdrawn the registration certificate of Ohaneze Ndigbo General Assembly, the Arewa Consultative Forum( ACF) and other socio- cultural groups in Nigeria.

This was made known in Abuja by the Registrar General of CAC, Mr Garba Abubakar .

He said the measure was part of the reforms the Commission was putting in place to subject such applications to thorough scrutiny following threats that may arise from such registrations.

He went further to say that they withdrew the certificate of Ohaneze Ndigbo General Assembly because the certificate should not have been issued in the first instance.

He also said that an established protocol has been laid down that all organisations, ethnic religious with political implication should be referred for security clearance before such organizations are registered. He also noted that Arewa Consultative Forum is not registered because they were not given security clearance alongside South- South Youth Forum , NorthEast Youth Forum and so many organisations have not been allowed to register as well.

Mr Abubakar also lamented the proliferation of Non- Govermental Organisation (NGOs) in Nigeria including foreign ones. He noted that such new organisations would have to secure the consent of the Registrar General of the Commission before allowing registration.

He said that such scrutiny is to avoid registering political association, some of which constitute a threat to national security.
