A Canadian court has dismissed the final appeal of a Nigerian family seeking asylum over alleged Boko Haram threats, paving the way for their deportation this week.
Adeniyi Muftau Gbadamosi, his wife, and two sons said militants attacked their home in 2018 after he converted to Christianity. But Justice Roger Lafrenière ruled there was no serious risk, noting the family could safely relocate to Port Harcourt in southern Nigeria.
The court also rejected arguments about the wife’s mental health and a pending humanitarian application, insisting deportation will proceed on August 19.
The Gbadamosis are now scheduled to return to Nigeria Tuesday evening.
