Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Anambra, Ven. Joseph Nweke has said the body is concerned with the increasing denominational crisis in the state.
He made this known in Onitsha when he hosted the Justice Development and Peace Caritas (JDPC) in partnership with Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
He said that they must find the safest way of de-escalating denominational tension brewing faster in the State.
He said that Christians should not discriminate in any way but must see themselves as one.
He also said that if the government can succeed in addressing this trend, there will be peace in the state because religion is opium.
He also called the government to be aware that politicians are the architect of this tension and should watch out for such actors.
He also said Christians should place God at the centre of all they do, re-define democracy to ensure God assumes centre stage as the intensity of such potentially violent situations will be reduced and the state will enjoy peace and freedom.
Earlier, Project Manager, JDPC Onitsha/FCDO, Mr Alphonsus Nwoye said the visit was to find out ways to unite Christians in the state regardless of their denominations.
