Christian Chukwu Embarrassed At the Fake News of His Death

Nigerians have been again , cautioned to verify news before they post it , especially on Social Media in order to avoid unnecessary embarrassment to individuals.

Embarrassed was exactly how Christian Chukwu felt when he woke up to the news of his purported death.

Nigerians woke up to the news of Christian Chukwu’s demise on Sunday morning. The 70 year old soccer legend celebrated his 70th birthday on Thursday and was rumoured to have passed on Saturday.

However, in a swift denial, via a telephone conversation with Newsmen, Christian Chukwu refuted the rumor. He said it was embarrassing to be rumoured dead while still alive and that his phone has been ringing non stop since the news broke.

Christian Chukwu played football for Nigeria and was also a former national team coach. He was a defender in his playing days when he captained the Nigeria National team to its first win in the African Nations cup in 1980.

He was also the assistant coach to Clemens Westerhof when the Super Eagles won a second African cup of Nation’s title in 1994.
