A former Chancellor of the Awka Catholic Diocese, Very Reverend Monsignor Professor John Paul Nzomiwu, has urged Christians in Nigeria to give God thanks for the outgoing year marked by lots of challenges which have taken a huge toll of human lives.

Monsignor Nzomiwu in a statement to mark the Christmas celebration, expects Christians to strive to make society better through their exemplary conduct in line with the demands and expectations of the season.

The Cleric, a former Dean of Arts, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, expressed worry over the hardship experienced by Nigerians, and called on the leadership to sit up and address the myriads of problems in the country.

Monsignor Nzomiwu maintained that the solution to the nation’s problems is the restructuring to give every geo- political zone sense of belonging.

He frowned at the high level of insecurity heightened by the latest kidnapping of school students in Katsina state by bandits, calling on the federal government to rise to the occasion and arrest perpetrators of the dastardly act.
