Citizens Send New Year Messages

The State Chairman, Nigerian Union of Pensioners Comrade Anthony Ugozor, has commended governor Chukwuma Soludo for approving a ten percent upward salary review for the state workforce effective from this month of January. 2023.
In his new year message, Comrade Ugozor lauded the governor for his magnanimity of paying fifteen thousand naira across board for workers in the state including pensioners in the Local government tier of Government of which he also benefitted from.
The one time state Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Nigerian Union of Teachers in the state, asked that the governor should extend such gesture to pensioners at the state level.
The NUP boss used the forum to appeal to the Nigerian electorate to be wise in casting their votes for a candidate of a Nigerian extraction and not on any other primordial considerations.
He solicited for a vote for credibility, integrity of purpose and for a candidate who will make education, welfare of the youths, productive economy rather than consumption economy, and for a leader who will not further plunge the nation into unpalatable debt.
Comrade Ugozor asked for a free and fair 2023 election, hoping that the use of the BVAs electoral machines will guarantee credible polls.
In his new year message the traditional ruler of Ezinato Igwe Timothy Ezenwaka expects the Nigerian electorate to exercise their voting rights with decorum and civility, and urged that focus should be on the Labour party flagbearer, Mr. Peter Obi, who, he noted, has the capacity to move Nigeria to the next level.
Igwe Ezenwaka called for peace in Nigeria in the new year, and advised the youths against use of Mkpulummiri which is counter productive.
The royal father further urged that the abandoned Amansea township stadium project started during the Dr. Chris Ngige regime be completed to enhance socio- economic well being of the state.
On his part, the traditional ruler of Umuawulu, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu in his new year message, called for peace in Nigeria and a vote for Mr. Obi in the Presidential election, in addition to votes for National Assembly candidates that will work with him to enhance the nation’s economic viability.
In their separate New Year messages, some community leaders from Ifite Dunu, Chiefs Stephen Afaeme and Christian Akunwaobi, called for peace in Anambra state, while a former state chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Barrister Emmanuel Okechukwu Junior, also called for peace in Nigeria, and for the voting enmasse for Mr. Peter Obi to right the wrongs in Nigeria.
