The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has urged the Nigerian Bar Association to protect the integrity of the judiciary.

In a statement by her media aide, the CJN expressed concern over the rising number of frivolous and baseless petitions against judges, often used to intimidate them. She noted that many judges are left traumatised even after being cleared of wrongdoing.

Justice Kekere-Ekun also criticised lawyers who publicly condemn judgments without proper understanding and called on senior lawyers to mentor younger colleagues.

The NBA Bar and Bench Forum Chair, Dr. Richard Ahonaruogho, also warned against frivolous petitions and called for penalties to deter such actions.
