The Archdeacon of Amawbia Archdeaconry and Vicar Saint Peter’s Anglican Church, Amawbia, Venerable Vincent Nkemdilim has asked Christians to allow the holy spirit of God to dwell in them in order to direct them aright.
Venerable Nkemdilim who stated this in a sermon to mark the Pentecost Sunday which was themed’ the promised holy spirit’ noted that the holy spirit is the life wire of the church without which the church is a mere social gathering.
He encouraged the parishioners to live life surrounded by the spirits of God through prayers, studying the words of God and go for evangelism as they have been empowered by the holy spirit and encouraged the youths to focus on Jesus Christ and be prayerful so as not to be led astray.
At Saint John’s Catholic Church, Enugwu-Agidi, the Parish Priest, Reverend Father Michael-Kins Okpala said that as Christians are commemorating the descent of the holy spirit to the disciples of Christ, it is expected of them to live with the spirit of God received through baptism, uphold their faith, make peace with one another and abide by the love of Christ.
Reverend Father Okpala noted that when one denounces sins and reconciles with Christ, holy spirit will lead the person to right perspectives and enables him to do exploits.
Meanwhile, the Vicar of Saint Mark’s Parish, Enugwu Agidi, Venerable Dr Nnamdi Emendu has stated that God fulfilled his promises on the Pentecost day as his spirit descended upon his disciples and they began to prophecy Christ and winning souls.
