After months of absence from official duties, Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Aminu Alkali, may soon be replaced. Sources hint at possible succession by Deputy Speaker Hamman Adama, though the state government denies the reports.

There are indications that the Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Aminu Alkali, may soon be replaced due to prolonged illness that has kept him away from office for over nine months.

Sources within the Taraba State House of Assembly and senior government officials confirmed that the lawmakers are considering the current Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Alhaji Hamman Adama, to replace the Deputy Governor.

However, a senior official revealed that the House of Assembly has not initiated formal impeachment or replacement proceedings but that discussions are ongoing to activate the constitutional process to remove Alkali.

However, the state government has debunked the claims, as the Special Adviser to Governor Agbu Kefas on Media and Digital Communication, Emmanuel Bello, dismissed the speculation as baseless.
