Corps Marshal Mohammed Commends FRSC Rescue Team For Recovering N8.6m From Crash Scene In Zaria
The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, has commended the rescue team of the Corps who successfully recovered the sum of Eight Million, Six Hundred and Twenty Thousand naira (8,620,000) during a rescue operation that was carried out at the scene of a road traffic crash in Kaduna State.
The road traffic crash occurred at Area G, Samaru, along Zaria-Funtua road around 7pm on 30th September, 2024.
According to report, a Ford pick-up van belonging to Nigerian Army with Registration number FST 134FX, was moving towards Funtua when a red Toyota Corolla, with registration number KTN 316 HK enroute Zaria whose driver was confirmed to be speeding against legal speed limit on that route, lost control and crashed onto the Ford Pick-up van.
The Kaduna State Sector Commander, Mr Kabir Nadabo, who confirmed the accident to newsmen in Kaduna, said the van was moving towards Funtua when the Corolla, travelling to Zaria, lost control and crashed onto the Ford.
Nadabo said the initial investigation indicated that the cause of the crash was speeding and loss of control.
He said: “A rescue team from Zebra 55 Shika led by the Zebra Head conducted the rescue.”
He added that investigation showed that three people were involved in the crash, two sustained injuries, while one person was injury-free.
“The injured were conveyed to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika for further treatment.
”In addition to the rescue, N 8.6 million was recovered at the scene.
“The amount belongs to the owner of the red Toyota Corolla, while arrangements are being made for him to fully recover before handing over the money to him, “he said.
Nadabo said the corps in Kaduna would continue to engage the relevant and critical stakeholders in advocating and creating more awareness on safety.
He added that the corps would not relent in its call for road users and motorists alike to work with FRSC in addressing the menace of road traffic crashes in the state.
The commander appealed to motorists to imbibe the culture of safe driving, particularly through townships and the highways.
He appreciated the Kaduna State Government for its support to FRSC.
Nadabo also commended the media for aligning with FRSC’s values in propagating safety.
