“CSOs Urged to Advocate for Effective Criminal Justice Legislation in Anambra State”

Civil Society Organizations in Anambra State are advocating for increased citizen involvement in budgeting and public hearings.

During a visit to the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Account, Ugochi Freeman, Team Lead of the Media Accountability and Anticorruption Initiative, emphasized that enhanced public participation fosters trust, accountability, and improved tax compliance.

The group is pushing for the review of the Fiscal Responsibility Law and the establishment of an Anti-Corruption Commission to combat corruption.

Hon. Noble Igwe, Chairman of the Public Account Committee, assured that the Assembly is committed to promoting transparency and will expedite relevant legislation to support these initiatives.
