The Nigeria Customs Service, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser and other agencies, has destroyed a large cache of expired and illicit drugs in Lagos.
The exercise took place at a dumpsite in Epe on Friday as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate harmful substances from circulation.
Assistant Comptroller of Customs Oluwaseun Oguntuase, speaking at the event, emphasized the dangers posed by expired drugs and reaffirmed the service’s commitment to stopping their entry into Nigeria.
Deputy Commander Solomon Omotosho of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), confirmed that some individuals linked to the seized drugs are facing prosecution.
Authorities warn importers of illicit pharmaceuticals to desist or risk legal consequences, as enforcement measures under Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi have intensified.
