Defence Minister Muhammad Badaru has said that the Nigerian military does not have enough personnel to combat terrorism in many parts of Northern Nigeria.

Speaking on Tuesday, he said that despite the challenges, the military has been successful in decimating terrorist groups, including killing seven top leaders recently.

Badaru noted that the military is originally expected to protect the country from external threats, but due to the security concerns across Nigeria, soldiers are deployed to almost all states and Abuja.

Recall that the Bola Tinubu administration has promised massive recruitment into the security agencies, including the military.

Badaru made these known during an interview with journalists after addressing the members of Senior Course 46 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna.
