…Calls for Speedy Inauguration Of Commission
The Disability community in Anambra State has congratulated the governor-elect, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and Deputy Governor-elect on their victory at the just concluded governorship election in the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Disability Matters, Barrister Chukwuka Ezewuzie, sent the congratulatory message at a Press briefing which took place at the Professor Dora Akunyili Development Centre is in Awka.
Barrisrer Ezewuzie who is the Director of novel Disability Constituency Campaign Directorate of the APGA, said that they have won the battle and will win the war after the inauguration of the Soludo government.
According to him, “Soludo has now moved from deck to the batting box and come March 17, 2022, he will take the development bat an hit a home run that will give us a grand slam economy accelerated by the envelopment wheels his predecessor, for the dream industrialized, viable an virile homeland.”
Ezewuzie pointed out that “a predecessor has not succeeded until his successor succeeds. The success of succession is an eloquent testimony of the wisdom, foundation an legacy o the predecessor. Nobody understands this concept more than the great Willie (Obiano)”
He expressed the hope that, with the good and solid foundation of sustainable projects laid by Governor Obiano, Soludo administration will easily follow in the spirit of continuity and turn the state into a dream industrialized society like Dubai.
Quoting the incoming governor, Ezewuzie noted that Soludo’s government “will leverage the entrepreneurial and community spirit of Ndi Anambra to create a more industrialized economy to be enabled by constant power supply, guaranteed security, efficient transport infrastructure, aggressive investment rive, technology and funded through innovative partnerships.”
He described the Deputy Governor-elect, Dr onyekachukwu Ibezim, as a loyal, humble and experienced friend who can be likened to a strong old bottle in a new wine skin, and ally to be counted on and leaned on in moments of crisis.
The Special Adviser lauded Soludo and Ibezim for continually lauding the efforts of the disabled persons in the state who according to him, capitalized on about 600,000 registered voters from the Disability Community to swing votes secured favourably by APGA candidate to win the November 2021 gubernatorial election.
Barrister Ezewuzie commended people living with disabilities, the physically-challenged, including those who crawled, and the visually-impaired who went to their polling units to exercise their franchise.
He also noted those who endured with disruptive facial and finger print machines and violent threats and shootings by Un known Gunmen at Ekwulobia and Ihiala to make their votes count.
Barrister Ezewuzie expressed the hope that the state government and APGA would reward all those who braved all odds in a way more rewarding, not just financial reward, but empowerment so that they can take care of not only themselves but also their family members.
He appealed to candidates who lost the election to shelve the idea of going to court to challenge the outcome, because, according to him, the result with wide margin of victory is a reflection of free, fair and credible exercise.
He further expressed hope that the victory would see to the establishment of Anambra State Disability Community Commission which was passed into law and signed by the governor in 2018.
Ezewuzie said he was not worried with the delay for the take-off of the commission, disclosing 0 that governor Obiano has been consulting wisely with relevant stakeholders after setting up the Disability Rights Commission Committee for necessary input.
In a vote of thanks, the State Chairman of Joint National Persons with Disabilities (JONAPID), Ugochukwu Okeke, observed that the disabled persons were massively mobilized to participate in the just-conclude election to ensure Soludo won the election because “we saw what Obiano did and we don’t to go back to Egypt.”
Mr Okeke who is the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Disability Matters, was optimistic that the incoming administration will borrow a leaf from the outgoing administration and continue to give the disability community sense of belonging.
