The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has strongly opposed calls for its dissolution, asserting that Nigeria cannot effectively combat corruption without the agency. This comes as 16 governors challenge the EFCC’s legality in court.
EFCC Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwujaren, stated that those behind the challenge are feeling the heat of the commission’s work and are attempting to evade accountability.
The Supreme Court is set to hear the case on October 22, while human rights lawyer Femi Falana advocates for the EFCC’s autonomy rather than its abolition, emphasizing its vital role in fighting corruption.
