Electricity consumers in Enugu State are set to enjoy relief as the state’s Electricity Regulatory Commission has slashed the Band A tariff from ₦206 to ₦160 per kilowatt-hour, effective August 1, 2025.

The cut, announced under EERC’s new tariff order, follows a cost review of MainPower Electricity Distribution Ltd. and aligns with federal subsidies that lower generation costs.

EERC Chairman Chijioke Okonkwo says the new rate helps cushion consumers while ensuring operational balance. Tariffs for Bands B to E remain unchanged.

This development stems from Enugu’s 2023 electricity law, empowering the state to regulate its own power market.
