The Chairman of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area in Enugu State, Hon. Michael Ogalla, has banned the imposition of levies on local palm wine and palm oil sellers.

In a statement released by his media aide, Chinecherem Godswill Eze, Ogalla warned that anyone caught demanding illegal charges from the artisans will face legal action.

Artisans were urged to report any such extortion to the authorities immediately.

This development follows public backlash over a previously introduced burial levy, which was later suspended and prompted a full review of the LGA’s tax system.

Igbo-Eze North is known as the leading producer of high-quality palm wine in Enugu State.
