The Enugu State Government has appointed new leaders for its Forest Guard to enhance security and environmental protection efforts.
In a statement released Friday, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, announced Colonel Dan Didiugwu (rtd) as Chairman and retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dr. Olamitisoji Akinbamilayo, as Commander of the Forest Guard.

Governor Peter Mbah approved the appointments to strengthen operations in response to growing security concerns, including herdsmen attacks in border communities like Eha-Amufu.
The Commander’s role takes effect immediately, replacing the now-defunct State Coordinator position.
These appointments aim to make the Forest Guard more effective in safeguarding lives, property, and natural resources across Enugu State.
