The Imo State Police Command says yesterday, 1st May 2021, at about noon, a MACK truck loaded with chippings, driven by one Kingsley Okwudili, coming from Ebonyi state to Orlu, on getting to Nkwo Mmiri, Market, ran into two vehicles, (MITSUBISHI BUS) and one TRICYCLE.
The Command said the accident was caused by break failure.
According to the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Godson Ikeokwu, as a result the three vehicles including the truck, fell into the stream, while the chippings poured on some people.
SP Ikeokwu said sequel to the incident, operatives of the Divisional Police Headquarters, Nwangele, moved to the scene, and rescued ten affected persons
He informed that on getting to the hospital, two of the victims , where confirmed dead, while eight others with various degree of injuries were taken in for treatment.
The PPRO added that the driver was taken into custody as investigation has commenced.
