Fatal Road Traffic Crash Near Amaokpala, Orumba North, Claims At Least One Life

A fatal road traffic crash which occurred Wednesday, 20th December, 2023, a few kilometers before Amaokpala town on Umunze-Ekwulobia road, claimed at least one life and injured three others.

The road traffic crash involved 3 unidentified drivers:
A) A commercial Mercedes Benz tipper with registration number; XA554AGU
B) A commercial Mack Trailer, with registration number; AKL876XP.
C). A commercial Motorcycle with no registration number.

A release issued by the Ag Sector Public Education Officer, RC Margaret Onabe, said the probable cause of the fatal crash which happened around 10:45am, was as a result of break failure.

According to eyewitness report, the trailer failed break and rammed into the tipper and motorcycle, then, crashed.

The release said that four male adults were involved in the crash which claimed the life of 1 male adult (the bike rider) while 3 male adults were rescued unhurt.

The killed victim was taken to Ajalli General Hospital, Ajalli by FRSC rescue team from RS5.37 Umunze Unit Command.

According to her, the rescue team were on ground to manage traffic and ensured that obstruction caused by the crash was cleared.

Reacting to the incident, the Anambra State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, commiserated with the family of the dead victim.

He admonished motorists to regularly service their vehicles to minimum safety standard before plying the road especially this festive period that the road is very busy.

Drive to save lives on our roads he cautioned.
