In addition to the non-kinetic measures taken against bandits in the North-West and other troubled states, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has reported that the Federal Government has taken delivery of 10 of the 12 A-29 Super Tucano fighter jets expected from the US and that their deployment has changed the tide in the fight against terror in Nigeria.

Speaking at a forum with Newsmen in Abuja on Sunday, he said that the remaining two jets should be in the next two weeks or thereabout.

Alhaji Mohammed said that the people surrender because they are overpowered or starved of their operations or because it has become impossible for them to carry out their dastardly acts.

He also said that they do not voluntarily surrender but blamed the media for not reporting what they ought to. He also said that he expects the media to report how many bandits have been killed and terrorists that have surrendered.

It will be recalled that on July 22, the Nigerian Air Force took delivery of the first batch of six of the A -29 Super Tucano aeroplanes from the US.
