The Federal High Court, in Abuja has ordered the Department of State service (DSS) to produce the 12 persons arrested at the residence of Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
Ruling on a fundamental right enforcement suit brought by the detainees’ lawyers, on Friday, the judge, Obiora Egwuatu, ordered that the arrested persons be produced by the DSS on July 29, to enable the court determine the circumstances surrounding their arrest, adding that the DSS will also have to “show cause” why they should not be released on bail, either conditionally or unconditionally.
The 12 persons, who have been in DSS detention since July 2, were arrested in Igboho’s home in Ibadan Oyo State during a raid.
Meaning, Igboho, recently arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic is to appear in court on Monday after an earlier proceeding on Thursday.
