In support of Local Government Areas Logistics Management Coordinating Units (LMCUs), has provided Tablets for 21 LGA in Anambra State.
The equipment was supplied by the Health Ministry through the National Product Supply Chain Management System (NPSCMS).
The handover ceremony of the tablets to the 21 LGA LMCUs was held at the Pharmaceutical Store Unit, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Awka.
The NPSCMS is an organ of the Federal Ministry of Health that supports the state and LGA LMCUs for effective data reporting.
The tablets are to be used to capture data that will be sent into the Nigeria Health Information System data base; data entry for logistics, supply chain monitoring and supportive supervision on an App called Survey CTO.
During the ceremony, Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA), Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu who was represented by Head of Essential Drugs and Logistics Unit, ASPHCDA, Pharm. Chisom Uchem, noted that the LGA LMCU Coordinators would be expected to enter the state’s data at the grassroots as before now the ministry was faced with the challenge of reporting devices while expressing gratitude to the FG for providing these tools for the LMCUs to capture data.
She further posited that the ministry looks forward to achieving 100 per cent reporting rate now that LMCUs have been enabled as the tablets are coming with data for them to do their job effectively while calling on the LMCUs to ensure that they put the devices to good use, and not convert them to other uses.
The State LMCU Coordinator, Mr Ojukwu Okwuchukwu, emphasised that the tablets were not for the LGA LMCU Officers alone but for all the other LGA Health Programme Officers who would take turns to enter their data.
He listed the officers to include Family planning Officers, Nutrition Officers, Tuberculosis Officers and all Programme managers at the LGA, and explained that if any of them have the need to enter data into the Nigerian Health Logistics Management Information System, the LGA LMCU Coordinator should as a matter of obligation oblige the officer.
Mr. Ojukwu Further noted that This will ease the work of the LGA LMCU officers, and make for accountability and transparency in health commodity’s management while finally positing that the distribution of the tablets to LGA LMCU officers is a milestone in the life span of the LGA LMCUs
