The Federal Government has dismissed claims made by Tigran Gambaryan, a US citizen and Binance executive, regarding his detention in Nigeria.

Gambaryan alleged that his arrest led to US President Joe Biden avoiding a meeting with President Bola Tinubu and that three Nigerian lawmakers demanded a $150 million bribe.

In response, Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, described the claims as false, revealing that Binance had offered a $5 million settlement for Gambaryan’s release, which the government rejected.

He added that an investigation into the alleged bribery attempt was opened despite no formal complaint. Gambaryan and his colleague, Nadeem Anjarwalla, were charged with laundering $35 million, though Anjarwalla later escaped custody.
