Former minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika has come under fire over the unveiling of the new national carrier, Nigeria Air, 48 hours before President Muhammadu’s exit.
It was first discovered and reported by an investigative journalist, David Hundeyin, that the Nigeria Air was a hired aircraft from Ethiopian Airline,
repainted and rebranded in Nigeria colours.
Following the negative attention Sirika has been getting, he has come out to claim that highly influential individuals in the country also contributed in frustrating the good intention of former President Muhammadu Buhari towards the project.
In a television interview , Sirika while responding to the issue of Hon Nnaji who called Nigeria Air launch a fraud, Sirika said that privately,
Hon Nnaji asked him to give him 5 percent of Nigeria to carry him along with his people, to which he replied that bidding process has taken place, and some people won and he should go to those people and ask for the 5 percent.
He said that Hon Nnaji didn’t say other members but he said he wants it for himself and his people, which could be his family, members and it could be leadership.
The former Minister also criticised Nnaji and the aviation committee for conducting what translated to a predetermined hearing.
Meanwhile, effort to get Hon Nnaji proved abortive as he was not available to react to the development.
