The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nnewi Unit Command, has filled dangerous Potholes along Ikemba Drive, Umuele Road, Umudim, Nnewi, in a proactive effort to prevent road crashes and ensure safer travel for motorists.
According to a statement issued by the Sector Public Education Officer, SRC Margaret Onabe, the exercise was carried out on Thursday, August 6, 2026, under the initiative “Safety on Nnewi Roads,” targetin a critical black spot that had posed serious risk to road users.
The Unit Commander, Assistant Corps Commander Asochukwu Damian Anayo, said the intervention became necessary due to the worsening condition of the road, which serves key locations including the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Permanent Site and the Customary Court, Nnewi.
The Sector Commander, FRSC Anambra State Command, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, commended the Nnewi Unit Command for the swift and proactive intervention, describing it as commendable demonstration of the Corps’ commitment to saving lives and preventing avoidable crashes.

She further urged sustained collaboration with relevant authorities to ensure permanent rehabilitation of the road.
The Corps Commander explained that the action was a preventive measure aimed at reducing crash risks, while calling on the Nnewi North Local Government Council to carry out permanent repair of the road.
Residents and road users commended the FRSC for the timely intervention, describing it as impactful and life-saving.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to proactive road safety measures, public enlightenment, and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure safer roads.
