The inauguration of GEFAS was officially declared open by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, who represented Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR.
In his remarks, Prof. Chukwulobelu praised the sophistication and structure of the initiative, noting its alignment with the state’s development vision.
According to Prof Solo “I walked into this inauguration ground and was amazed. During the last election, we tried something similar, but what I see here is far more refined and impactful,” he stated.
He emphasized the necessity of leveraging digital platforms to reach the grassroots. “It’s not just about getting votes it’s about listening to the people, understanding their grievances, and solving their problems. Government can’t be everywhere, but this structure bridges that gap and allows us to feel the pulse of the people.”
Prof. Chukwulobelu also noted that the platform should not be viewed solely as a campaign tool, but as a permanent feedback system that strengthens governance.
“This should become part and parcel of how we interact with our citizens long-term.”
Convener of GEFAS and MD/CEO of the Anambra ICT Agency, Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, explained that the alliance is rooted in Governor Soludo’s passion for technology and innovation.
“According to Agbata, Governor Soludo is committed to building a smart, liveable, and prosperous Anambra. GEFAS brings together tech minds, innovators, and cybersecurity experts to keep the momentum going and ensure continuity in governance,” Agbata said.
He continued, “We want to move Anambra from a departure lounge to a thriving hub where people can live and innovate. By leveraging technology, we can spark real change and ensure that development reaches every part of the state.”
Also speaking to journalists, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, revealed that Anambra is already setting the pace in digital inclusion.
“Anambra is the light of the nation. We’re building a digital tribe intentionally. Over 20,000 people have been trained, and we’re driving awareness and competition among young people to deepen ICT knowledge,” he said. “With 22 smart schools fully equipped with digital tools already built, we are setting the tone for the future. In 10 years, Anambra will be Nigeria’s number one digital state.”
The launch of GEFAS reflects a growing synergy between civic-minded tech professionals and government, united in their commitment to using innovation as a vehicle for governance, problem-solving, and people-first development.
