The Anambra state governor, Chief Willie Obiano has revealed that his administration has funded 13,750 small businesses in the state in addition to providing timely support to critical infrastructure since inception.
Governor Obiano disclosed this on Tuesday through the MD/CEO of Anambra Small Business Agency (ASBA) Chief Clems Chukwuka during an interactive session with journalists.
Chief Clem claimed that the state government invested Two billion naira in the agency in 2015.
He informed that One billion naira was given to micro credits while One billion went to SMEs as single digit loans and have now funded about 13,750 micro enterprises.
The managing director of ASBA, stated that government had funded many co-operative societies which were made up of market women, artisans, farmers and youths.
Chief Clem explained that the youths were trained in many fields including rice farming, poultry, fishery, shoe making, metal fabrication and others and were supported with single digit loans of five hundred thousand naira.
He atrributed the success of plan to why Anambra has the least rate of unemployment in Nigeria.
