Anambra State Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025 celebrated the ‘World Teacher’s Day, to honour teachers across the state on their special day.
Speaking on the occasion which took place at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, the governor, accompanied by the Deputy affirmed that the future of any society is dependent on quality of teachers. “Today is to celebrate our teachers and you people deserve it. Let me use this opportunity to appreciate our teachers all over the world, around Nigeria but most importantly the teachers in Anambra State because you are doing such a fantastic job.”
“There is no educational system without a teacher, if you want to evaluate the quality of education or the future of a society, you look at the quality of teachers and the quality of teaching.
“Here in Anambra we recorded that there will be no school without teachers, there can be no smart school without smart teachers. That is why we set out within the first nine months we recruited 5,000 teachers and within the few months later we recruited another 3,115 teachers to make it total of 8,115 teachers and were recruited based on merit
“What is best for Anambra child is to be taught by the best teacher in the world not by the incompetent teacher from his village. You’re the best and the results are showing.” The governor said
Speaking, The Commissioner for Education Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, praised the governor for all he is doing to transform the education Sector. “Mr. Governor on behalf of all the teachers and solution parents we have come to ask for permission to go to major cities in Anambra for mobilization.”
The Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, in her speech said, “With immerse joy that I stand up here to welcome you Mr governor, and thank you for your transformational strive in Basic Education in Anambra State.”
The governor received an award as the Best Governor and also a cheque of three million naira.
Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Mrs. Chika Chukwugozie, Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, Principals, Headteachers and teachers across the state were present at the event.
