Gov Soludo’s Security Interventions in Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka
Anambra State Government has implemented a series of security-based interventions aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the complex.
Making this known in a statement in Awka, the Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, said that the intervention as approved by Governor Chukwuma Soludo is in response to the security challenges facing the Secretariat Complex.
He listed Key Interventions to include, Enhanced Surveillance, Solar-Powered Control Rooms,
Solar-Powered Lighting, Perimeter Security, Access Control and Infrastructure Upgrade.

Lighting
- Enhanced Surveillance: The installation of 40 CCTV cameras, which enables live coverage of the complex
- Solar-Powered Control Rooms: Two hybrid solar-powered control rooms have been set up to receive live feeds from the CCTV cameras to ensure uninterrupted monitoring and effective incident response.
- Solar-Powered Lighting, : The installation of solar-powered lights illuminates the secretariat environment at night, deterring potential security threats and ensuring a safe working environment.
- Perimeter Security: Barbed wires have been installed around the perimeter fence to reduce unauthorised entry, while iron protectors have been mounted on doors and windows to prevent illegal access.
- Access Control: Identified illegal access points enabled by uncovered drainages have been covered, and the management of the security team has been changed to strengthen security administration.
- Infrastructure Upgrade: The access road leading to the secretariat has been rehabilitated, ensuring easy access and enhancing the overall security of the complex.
Commissioner Mefor maintained that those interventions and others being considered demonstrate the workers’ friendly Governor’s commitment to addressing the security challenges facing the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex and ensuring a safe and secure working environment for employees.
