Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has introduced a revolutionary digital tax system that is designed to curb fraud and augment revenue in the state.
On his official Twitter page, he said that the system incorporates a free medical insurance scheme for all commercial vehicle operators, enabling the government to fuel entrepreneurial growth and progress within the state.
Governor Otti said that the government has envisaged that the digital platform will simplify tax compliance, and also unlock substantial revenue for development projects, thereby strengthening the state’s economy.
He stated that it offers easy payment options for both transporters and traders, and promotes transparency, reflecting the steadfast commitment to facilitating business operations in Abia state.
Reacting to the initiative, a user simply identified as Ochi War said that it will be good to get periodic updates on number of unique tax payers by trade and location , average contribution by trade and total tax collected through this medium.
Maurice Mbata also replied the governor that it should be mandatory for ALL government revenue and expenditure be published weekly to the tax paying public as transparency helps curb corruption for Abia to be great again.
