Governor Willie Obiano says his administration is committed to providing basic amenities to make life more meaningful to the people.
Governor Obiano stated this while inaugurating the New Otuocha Regional Water Supply Scheme.
The project jointly executed by the European Union and the Anambra State government, sources water from the Omambala River and has the capacity to treat ten million liters of water daily.
The Governor who noted that the water project will service three Communities in Anambra East Council Area namely Aguleri, Umueri and Umu-Oba Anam, pointed out that the target of the facility is to take water to all parts of the Local Government Area.
He enjoined the people to take full ownership of the project to ensure durability and disclosed that in order to protect the project, a Facility Manager has been appointed for maintenance and services.
He further said that individuals building houses and want to connect water to their homes should do so, but with the permission of the Ministry of Public Utilities and Water Resources.
Speaking, the Commissioner for Public Utilities and Water Resources, Mr Emeka Ezenwanne, described the project as historic and noted the importance of water in the life of any living thing.
The Transition Committee Chairman for Anambra East Local Government, Mr Obi Nweke, appreciated the Governor for the project, expressing optimism that apart from the three communities, water will get to other towns in the Local Government.
