Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has convened a security council meeting with heads of security agencies to address recent political tensions in the state. The closed-door meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt focused on strategies to prevent the invasion of local government secretariats.

Governor Fubara cautioned the immediate past council chairmen against harboring false hopes of returning to their positions. He also raised concerns about an alleged plan by his opponents to arrest his supporters, pledging to personally protect them and warning that anyone attempting such arrests would have to confront him first.

This follows recent unrest, with Ijaw youths camping outside the Port Harcourt Local Government Area and police issuing warnings to potential troublemakers.
