The Young Progressive Party, YPP, says it has been informed of a circular from the Government of Anambra State, mandating town union leaders across the State to hold an “emergency meeting” tomorrow being Monday, October 6, 2025, to discuss Governor Obiano’s Government policy of Community Choose your Project Initiative, which Governor Soludo abandoned upon assumption of office over three years ago.
A release from the Media office, SPC Media, alleged that suddenly, about one month to the Governorship Election, Soludo is now trying to bamboozle unsuspecting community leaders with an enticement to choose their own project, which the government shall fund. According to the release, the irony is that this initiative was up and running at the point Soludo took over from Obiano, but he, after committing to support the programme, willfully abandoned it.
The release recalled that Sir Paul Chukwuma, the Governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party, has made a commitment to reverse the community choose your project initiative. It posited that Paul Chukwuma, who, throughout his engaging campaigns across the various communities and local governments in Anambra State, has identified specific challenges peculiar to the various communities and LGAs and also assured of community-based response which his government shall support and fund, as a sustainable solution to the identified issues.
The SPC Media said, “But out of desperation, Governor Soludo has rushed to force town unions to meet tomorrow, with a promise to fund the initiative, which he ignored for over three and half years.
“Only a few months ago, Soludo also made a promise of N50, 000 monthly stipend to community youth leaders. A calculated move to sway them by way of inducement.
“Ndi Anambra must be vigilant and must remain focused on our collective rejection of this government at the ballot on November 8.
“The people must resist these attempts by the outgoing government of Professor Charles Soludo to buy his way back.
“A government bent on manipulating the people at all costs, in exchange for votes, can never work for the people” @SPC Media concluded.
