Governor’s Wife Rounds off Tour of 21 LGA in Anambra East

Wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano has pleaded with parents to allow their children to acquire scholarly knowledge because illiteracy does not pay.

According to Mrs Obiano children with education have better potential to perform better in life.
Mrs Obiano made the plea at Otuocha Township Stadium, Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area as she rounded up the 2020 annual tour of LGAs in the state.

The wife of the Governor said she bankrolled many skills acquisition training as well as empowered them to enable them to put what they learnt into practice through her NGO, the Caring Family Enhancement (CAFE) which has also trained no fewer than 300 persons at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

Mrs Obiano enjoined people of the area to always adhere to instructions given by the World Health Organisation on COVID-19 pandemic, saying the virus was still in existence.

In his remarks, Member representing, Anambra East and West in the Federal House of Representatives, Mr Chinedu Obidigwe praised the Governor’s wife for her efforts at bettering the lives of the people.

According to him she is following the good steps of the Governor, who has constructed roads from Awkuzu to Nkpu Nando and Igbariam, renovation of the road leading to Shell at Umueri, construction of the longest bridge in Anambra that leads to Anambra oil rigs at Enugu Otu, Eziagulu Otu and Aguleri.

Obidigwe further emphasized that the Governor’s wife has given hope to the less privileged in the state by building houses, training people in schools at all level, constructed Cheshire Homes for demented people in the state.

Member representing Anambra East in the State House of Assembly, Mr Obinna Emeneka in his contribution commended Mrs Obiano for her good works in the state that had earned her multiple awards including that for the Most Supportive Wife to a Governor.
He urged her to be steadfast and firm in her acts of generosity.

Commissioner for Child Welfare and Women Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mezue described Mrs Obiano as a benevolent woman, who had built not less than 30 houses for the less privileged persons in the state.

Also Wife of the Transition Committee Chairman, Anambra East LGA, Mrs Nkiru Obi Nweke also affirmed that Mrs Obiano’s passion, inclination and burning desire to assist the less privileged in the society have been felt Nationally and internationally.
She thanked Gov. Obiano for providing the enabling environment for his wife to bring wellness to the doorsteps of the rural folks.
Mrs Obi Nweke further listed some of the achievements of Gov. Obiano to include security, landmark projects such as the almost completed Umueri Cargo Airport, Awka Township Stadium and ongoing Awka International Conference Centre with about 10,000 sitting capacity.

Finally, she commended Mrs Obiano for building a 3-bedroom bungalow for Mrs Victoria Udenka at Ameze Aguleri during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic and sharing palliatives to the people of the area.

Other dignitaries at the event include Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Primus Odili, Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra East LGA and some government functionaries.
