A rights group, International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) has drawn the attention of the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ikioye Orutugu, to brewing hostility between Uli and Egbuoma communities in Anambra and Imo states, respectively.
A statement signed by the Chairman of Board of Trustees of the group, Comrade Emeka Umeagbalasi, called for the disbanding of vigilante operatives in Uli, Anambra State as a measure to douse the growing tension.
Umeagbalasi in the statement revealed that both Orutugu and the Special Adviser to Soludo on security, Prince Ken Emeakayi, have been written to take steps to quell the brewing hostility.
On the cause of the disagreement between both communities, the group said vigilante operatives from Uli have been invading Egbuoma community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, where they sometimes abduct the indigenes, and that the latest was the forced abduction of one Kosarachi Ohajuba, who was still detained in the Uli vigilante facility.
