Still on sports, few years after leaving the office, former president of Africa soccer governing body (CAF), Issa Hayatou, on Friday returned to the confederation but in an honourary capacity.
The Cameroonian football supremo left the office in 2017 after he lost an election to Ahmad Ahmad, he served the body between 1988 to 2017.
Ahead of the 2021 7championship of African Nations (CHAN) that will start in Cameroon on Saturday CAF Executives committee met in Yaounde, where Hayatou and FIFA president Gianni Infantino also present.
Hayatou was conferred with the Honourary President of the body for serving for 30 unbreakable years.
Incumbent president of the body Ahmad Ahmad was conspicuously missing as he is his mmbàstill serving 5 year ban imposed on him by FIFA.
The election to elect new president of the football body will take place in March and four candidates are already eyeing the position.
