Anambra State Commissioner for Health Dr Vincent Okpala has assured the Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORCN) that his ministry would maintain its partnership with them in order to promote healthy living.
Dr Okpala gave the assurance during an advocacy visit with the new Zonal State Coordinator of the group in his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
The commissioner noted that Environmental Health Officers play a significant role and as well focus on the relationships between people and their environment, promoting human health and well-being.
According to him, environmental health is a key part of any comprehensive public health system and as a result it has become a need for the ministry to maintain the partnership.
In his remarks, the Zonal Coordinator, Mr Kelvin Okafor said that the purpose of their visit was to solicit for the ministry’s continued support in providing better platforms for environmental officers.
Mr Okafor emphasised the working synergy between environmental health officers and the health ministry in handling environmental health matters in the state while noting that the establishment of a working platform especially in hospitals, would aid proper functioning of the environmental officers.
