Hit-and-run driver knocks down pedestrian in Awka

An unidentified driver of unknown vehicle on Friday knocked down an unidentified male adult crossing the road at Aroma – opposite UBA BANK, in AWKA at about 3:20pm.

According to Florence Edor, the sector public education officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra state,

Eyewitness account showed that the Pedestrian was knocked down while crossing the road.

The victim was subsequently taken to Amaku hospital by the FRSC rescue team from Anambra State Sector Command and was confirmed dead by the Doctor on duty.
His body has since been deposited at Amaku mortuary.

The Sector Commander Anambra State FRSC, Andrew Kumapayi, while sending his condolences to the family of the deceased, warned drivers to avoid speeding especially in built up areas and should use the maximum speed limit of 50km/hr.

An unidentified driver of a Toyota Sienna car with registration number UKP 107 LH and unidentified Rider of a Topstar Motorcycle with registration number NSH 206 VC were involved in a serious crash at Eke Nnokwa road Nnewi, yesterday at about 10:25am.

According to a report by the Public Education Officer of the FRSC in Anambra state, Florence Edor, eyewitnesses claimed the crash was due to Speeding.

The 2 persons involved in the crash were both male adults, with one sustaining varying degrees of injury and rushed to Nnokwa General hospital by a good Samaritan before the arrival of FRSC rescue team.
No death was recorded, the road has been cleared for free flow of traffic.

The Sector Commander Anambra State Andrew A Kumapayi, in reaction wished the injured victim quick recovery warning them to desist from speeding.
