Humanitarian Volunteers have been described as world heroes worthy of admiration and celebration.
The State Chairman, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Anambra State Branch , Professor Peter Katchy, made the assertion in his message to commemorate the 2020 World Humanitarian Day.
This year’s world humanitarian day theme, “Real life heroes” according to Prof Katchy is an indication on the need to celebrate humanitarian aide workers.
Professor Katchy explained that this year’s World Humanitarian Day is special because of the high number of people who risk their lives to save the sick ones amid Covid-19 pandemic.
The Red Cross State Chairman observed that humanitarian aide workers are usually the first to respond to disasters, epidemics and conflicts, while endangering their own lives to save others.
He called on Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of humanitarianism to alleviate the sufferings of the Vulnerable in the society and save human dignity.
