Following a keenly contested debate competition between secondary schools in Enugwu-Ukwu, Ide Secondary School has defeated St. Theresa Secondary School to clinch the victory, while Goodchild Secondary School triumphed over Okutalukwe Secondary School to take third place.
The event which also hosted the official inauguration ceremony of “Hon. Chidi Ibemeka support group” had in attendance over 500 invited guests and students including all the APGA ward chairmen in Njikoka 1, different youth and students leaders as well as students from participating schools who came to cheer their various representatives.
The debate competition which started on 8th March featured four schools with three Representatives between the SS1-SS2 classes, as they competed against their rivals in two stages (Qualifying round & Final stage).
The competition was organized and sponsored by Hon. Chidi Ibemeka in partnership with the National Association of Enugwu-Ukwu Students (NAES) was a part of the contributions of Hon. Ibemeka to the development of education, students and youths in Njikoka1 constituency while also creating a platform to develop and enhance the psychological performances of the students.
Ide Secondary defeated St. Theresa’s Secondary School with 86 to 71 points to clinch the star prize at the grand finale after they previously defeated Goodchild Secondary School at the qualifying round.
As the winners, they won a brand new 32″ inches LG plasma television, educational materials, certificates and gold medals.

Goodchild Secondary School who came third after defeating Okutalukwe Secondary School with 70 to 61 points went home with a brand new GotV decoder, educational materials, certificates and bronze medals.
A student, Miss. Ezeh Chisimdi Success, an SS1 student of Ide Secondary School emerged as the overall winner of the debate competition. Success defeated eleven other debaters to clinch the title.
She was awarded a cash scholarship of One hundred thousand naira (100,000), a certificate and a gold medal, the first runner up from Goodchild Secondary School received a cash scholarship of Fifty thousand naira (50,000), a certificate and a gold medal. While the second runner up from Okutalukwe Secondary School received a cash scholarship of Twenty thousand naira (20,000), a certificate and a gold medal.
Sharing her excitement, Ezeh Success, expressed gratitude to everyone who helped her in accomplishing the feat.
The initiative was a welcome development as guests at the occasion took turns to praise Hon. Ibemeka.
The Inter-Secondary Schools Debate Competition is one of the many initiatives of Hon. Chidi Ibemeka seeks to develop the intellectual capacity of Njikoka students through healthy debate competitions.
