A spiritual leader, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka has called against the celebration of corpses by Ndi Igbo. He also warned against keeping corpses in Mortuary as these acts are capable of escalating Covid-19 pandemic. He also said that withholding dead bodies from being buried immediately is naturally harmful to the human soul.

Chief Ezeonwuka made this known at Ekwuluobia , during the burial ceremony of Monsignors Professor Jognbosco Akam of Uga and Ezeokoli of Nkpologwu at St Joseph Cathedral, Ekwuluobia.

He said that preserving and stockpiling dead bodies in cold room when Coronavirus pandemic is spreading everywhere could spell doom to the general public.

He said that carrying corpses around is not a natural, religious practice. He urged Christians to bury the dead immediately and can fix dates for funeral ceremony on a latter date.

Mourning the late Monsignors and priest that were buried the same day, he prayed for peaceful repose of their souls.
