The traditional ruler of Umuawulu, Awka South Council Area of Anambra State, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, has described the International Cargo Airport at Umueri, as mother of all projects in the state.
Igwe Egwuonwu who was at the airport during the test of facilities and the landing of three aircraft at the Cargo Airport, asserted that Governor Willie Obiano has written his name in gold by actualizing the airport project.
According to the Royal father, Anambra state has moved to the next level following the feat and highlighted the immense benefits of the project to include facilitating the movement of goods within the Southeast geo- political Zone, the country and beyond.
He urged the citizenry, irrespective of religious and political party affiliations, to join hands in guiding the state jealously.
He further observed with delight that the airport has three major entrances, namely the Enugu-Onitsha expressway, Nsugbe, and the Nteje- Umueri axis which provides easy assess to the airport.
The royal father commended the Commissioner For Works and Road Infrastructure, Engineer Marcel Ihejiofor, and the Director of Works in the Ministry, Michael Obiekwe, for relocating their offices to the airport site for the past one year to ensure its timely completion.
The Traditional ruler also made reference to the ongoing ilInternational Conference Centre in Awka which when completed, will further demonstrate the willingness of the Obiano administration to make Anambra state the envy of other States in Nigeria.
