The traditional ruler of Umueri, in Anambra East Council Area, Igwe Benneth Emeka, says the construction of Anambra International Cargo and Passengers’ Airport at Umueri by the Anambra state government has written the name of the community and Anambra in the world map.
Igwe Emeka who made the assertion while speaking with journalists, expressed gratitude for the project, and stated his community's readiness to welcome the world for the test-running of the airport where two Aeroplanes will land at the airport for the first time on Friday, describing it as a thing of joy for Umueri people.
Igwe Emeka commended governor Willie Obiano for his efforts and commitment in ensuring the completion of the airport project which he said is a gaint stride for the present Anambra government.
The Umueri monarch thanked the people of the community for releasing over one thousand, nine hundred heaters of land to the state government for the project and for their peaceful disposition during the construction, despite a little crisis on land matter which was amicably resolved on a round table with the state government.
Igwe Emeka noted that the project will create job opportunities for both the host community, neighbouring communities, as well as other Anambra residents.
Ecinomically, the traditional ruler maintained that the airport will help boost the state's Internally Generated Revenue, open business windows for all and sundry and also usher in more developments to Umueri in particular and Anambra state at large, describing the project as an elephant meat that one person cannot eat alone.
The traditional ruler further assured that Umueri people are ready to roll out their drums in appreciation to governor Obiano led administration during the test running ceremony of the project.
