The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has denied claims that it opposed the recent fuel price reduction by Dangote Refinery and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL).
On Saturday night, former presidential aide Reno Omokri alleged via his verified X handle that IPMAN was protesting against the Federal Government because of the affordability of Dangote and NNPCL fuel.
However, in a statement on Sunday, IPMAN’s National Vice President, Hammed Fashola, refuted the claim, stating that independent marketers have always supported full deregulation of the oil sector. He insisted that Omokri’s statement did not originate from IPMAN.
Fashola emphasized that IPMAN welcomes price reductions as long as they are driven by market forces and not artificial government intervention.
