The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is calling on the Federal Government to allow its members to source petroleum products directly to alleviate pressure in the sector.
Mr. Chinedu Anyaso, Chairman of IPMAN’s Enugu Depot, emphasized that current pricing is dictated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd., limiting their influence on costs.
With IPMAN controlling about 85% of retail outlets in Nigeria, Anyaso believes that liberalizing the sector would improve product availability and reduce prices. He noted ongoing discussions with Dangote Refinery for direct supply, which could further lower costs.
Anyaso also highlighted a recent visit to the Port Harcourt Refinery, expressing optimism about its reopening. He urged the public to understand IPMAN’s role in addressing challenges within the sector and reassured Nigerians of continued service amidst these difficulties.
