Jon Landau, the renowned Oscar-winning producer famous for his collaborations with director James Cameron on “Titanic” and the “Avatar” series, has passed away at the age of 63.

Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman announced Landau’s death, praising his visionary talent and passion that brought unforgettable stories to the big screen.

Landau’s career began in the 1980s, and he rose to prominence as a producer on James Cameron’s blockbuster “Titanic,” which made history as the first film to surpass 1 billion dollars in global box office earnings and won 11 Oscars, including Best Picture.

His partnership with Cameron continued with “Avatar,” a groundbreaking sci-fi epic that shattered box office records. Landau’s role in overseeing the development and defending ambitious sequels solidified his legacy in filmmaking.

Jon Landau is survived by his wife Julie of nearly 40 years and their sons, Jamie and Jodie.
