The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), has suspended its planned strike for two weeks following interventions by the Minister of Labour and other stakeholders.
The industrial action was initially scheduled to begin today, June 2.
In a statement released Sunday, JUSUN’s Public Relations Officer, Joel Ebiloma, said the reprieve is to allow relevant authorities resolve outstanding issues, including the release of statutory allocations and salary arrears.
The meeting, involving JUSUN leaders and judiciary stakeholders, was convened at the request of the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
The union stressed that the Office of the Accountant General must act within the two-week window to avert a total shutdown of the courts.
